4/14/24

Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a great spring break and were able to take advantage of the beautiful weather this weekend!

  • Please be sure to send in the Lord of the Rings permission slip as soon as possible.
  • We have two field trips at the end of the year that we're looking for chaperones to attend.
    • John Ball Zoo πŸ¦πŸ¦“
      When: Wednesday, May 22, 2024
Times: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM (chaperones would meet us at the zoo)
Responsibilities: Take a self-guided/self-paced tour of the zoo while supervising a small group of students (their lantern festival just began there as well). Eat lunch with students (students will pack a sack lunch to eat while at the zoo.)
Chaperone Cost: The first 5 parents I hear from will be admitted free of charge. *Edit: our five free spots have been claimed* Others will need to pay admission- $17.

Greenfield Village and Henry Ford Museum (Dearborn, MI)πŸš‚πŸ›žπŸ’‘
      When: Tuesday, May 28, 2024
Times: To be announced... All chaperones must drive to GFV or carpool together.
Responsibilities: Meet the buses at GFV, and take a self-guided/self-paced tour of the village and museum while supervising a small group of students. Eat lunch with students (students will pack a sack lunch to eat while at GFV.)
      Student/Chaperone Cost: To be determined.
  • We will start our MSTEP testing on Tuesday next week. For the next four weeks, we'll test every Tuesday morning--please do your best to have your child at school at this time so they don't miss any class time making up these tests.
    • All students must have headphones for these tests. Please check with your child to ensure that they have working headphones.
  • Finally, consider signing up for Diving Camp this summer! Joe Mish, the FHC middle and high school diving coach is running two sessions for kids in grades 5-12 to try the sport of diving. I can't recommend this enough--Joe is an outstanding coach and all of my middle school divers love the sport! Plus, if they dive in middle school, they'll get to hang out with me during the season--what could be more motivating than that!? πŸ˜‰
