 Hi everyone, Are we sick of snow days? I admit, there were a couple I could have done without. It's been tough getting back to a consistent routine since returning from winter break, but it looks like we're in the clear for the immediate future (and returning to a rainy and brown "winter" 😕). Here's your update for the week.  We've kicked off Book Bowl! All 5th grade classes are participating in a competition to see who can read the most books, culminating in a trivia competition on March 27th (the day before spring break). Here's a handout with more information, including the book list on the second page. We need everyone to read, read, read!  Please ensure that your child is reading every day at home--the new year is a great time to reestablish these good habits! All books are available in the school library but students may only check out one at a time. If your child is a fast reader, consider checking out more at the public library.  If students are ...

 Hi everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful winter break! We're looking forward to seeing all of the all of the rested and refreshed kids. Read on for this week's announcements.  We're starting new units in all subjects. Here's what we'll be studying in my (Mr. Beemer's) class: In reading we're focusing on nonfiction text. We'll especially work on finding main ideas and comparing/contrasting texts. Be sure that your child is reading for at least 20 minutes every  night. This reading does not need to be nonfiction necessarily, but I'm hoping to nudge kids into finding a topic that they want to read about in their free time. Unit 4 math focus on decimals with an introduction to coordinate planes. The homelink packets will be given out at the beginning of the week. Please check with your child to make sure that they are keeping up with these--many kids had a lot to catch up on when these were due for unit 3. In addition, we're starting a project th...
