Announcements 2/26/24

 Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a nice mid-winter break! We all needed some rest and a chance for many kids to kick some ongoing winter illnesses. Please read on for this week's announcements.

  • Please take a moment this week to have your child log on to IXL and show you their assigned skills (they must go through Clever--if they log in to their school Google account, they'll know how to do this). Many kids are falling behind on assignments that Mrs. Gillies and I have posted. This can quickly become an overwhelming amount of work if they don't stay on top of it! They should have a score of 80 on each assignment. Thank you for your help!
  • We had a great time bowling last week! See here for pictures from the event. The kids were well behaved and had a lot of fun.
  • On Friday, several students shared their completed Bakery Project with the class. Many came with their baked goods to share--thank you for your help in making this a special event!
  • I'm hoping to finish the math unit this week and have the kids take the test before the weekend. Next week we'll review what we've learned this year and start preparing for the spring MAP test.
  • Our class is doing exceptionally well in reading the Book Bowl books--keep it up! All kids should continue to read their books daily. The competition is at the end of March, students need to have finished at least three books by then in order to participate.
    • Congratulations to Kaylie and Ekjit for already finishing all 12 books!
    • Brennan, JT, and Hudson are over the halfway mark and are on track to do the same. Awesome work!
  • On Friday, students brought home permission slips for our field trip to the Gerald R Ford museum. This trip will be on March 5th, so please return these slips as soon as possible. We will not take chaperones on this trip, as it's pretty structured and short.
  • Parent/teacher conferences are on March 12th and 14th. You'll be able to get into the building through the front door--no more following my signs around the side of the building 😉
    • Please note that these conferences are only 10 minutes long--please be punctual so we can maximize our time together.
    • If you'd like to conference via Zoom, send me an email to let me know. Otherwise, I'll assume that we're meeting in person.
    • Here's the link to the signup. Let me know if none of the available slots work for you and we can work something out.
Thanks for reading!
Wes
