 Hi everyone,

I hope you've had a great weekend! We have a big week coming up here at Central Woodlands, read on for this week's announcements. 

  • On Tuesday the kids will have an opportunity to try out different instruments (plus singing in the choir) and mark which of them they are interested in playing next year. Music Interest Forms will be sent home at some point this week, please sign and return these the following day. 
  • We'll start the math MAP on Thursday with most students finishing it on Friday. Please be sure that your child gets a full night of sleep and eats a healthy breakfast. 
    • If needed, I might bump this back one day, starting on Friday and finishing up Monday. We have lots of preparation to do this week!
  • The kids have been working through recommended math skills on IXL the past few weeks. These skills are specific to their strengths and weakness and should help with their MAP skills. Ask your child what I've assigned to them and what they've accomplished (they have a Google Doc on Classroom that they'll be able to show you). 
    • Shoutout to our class leaders on IXL these past two weeks! You guys are going to ROCK this MAP test!

      • Brooks: 346
      • Addie: 395
      • Kaylie: 424
      • Irelynd: 627
      • Allie: 1,042!!
  • Parent/teacher conferences are this week. Be sure to note your scheduled slot. In order to make the most of our time, I'll start each conference with parent questions and concerns. Please be on time and be ready to share anything that you'd like to discuss. 
  • Finally, last week we visited the Gerald R Ford museum. The only photos I took were of the kids looking very deep in debate and discussion of taxes and foreign policy, take a look 😉

Trail Map 8/24

 Hi Everyone, We had a great first week of school! We spent a lot of time this week getting to know your kids and learning about how we do things here at Central Woodlands. We're geared up for an amazing year of learning as Trailblazers! Read on for this week's announcements. Next week we will begin running our regular schedule and start the first unit of every subject. Here is our weekly schedule . This is subject to change (and likely will change!) as we figure out what works and what does not work.  Next week we will start sending home a daily planner, likely beginning on Tuesday or Wednesday. We're asking students to get parent signatures every night for the first quarter. If we feel it is no longer needed, we'll stop requiring signatures after that (you are, of course, welcome to continue this expectation with your own child). 5th Grade Update

 It's Halloween week! 👻Today we reminded students to carry their costumes in their bags to school tomorrow if they'd like to wear one. We will change into them later in the afternoon, and they will need to be independent with their changing. Please no elaborate or gory make up or play weapons. We have some fun activities planned and a treat at the end of the day!🎃 Thank you to everyone for coming to conferences last week and for partnering in your students' learning. We also appreciate our camp chaperones--it was a great time at Camp Roger! See this  Google Drive folder  for pictures we've taken or received so far.
